Pastors

The Reverend Thomas N. Thomas, Senior Pastor
srpastor@unionucc.org

The Reverend Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson, Associate Pastor
assocpastor@unionucc.org

Pastor Kris has been our Associate Pastor since 1996. In her ministry here, her primary responsibility is working with youth in grades 6-12. She teaches the 8th grade Confirmation Class, oversees the Breakfast Club (9th-12th grade), and she organizes the Youth Group for grades 6-12. Recently, a Young Adult group was formed for folks in the 18–30 age group.

Pastor Kris also shares in all other pastoral responsibilities with Pastor Thomas. She preaches about once a month and assists with worship weekly, helps with baptisms, funerals and weddings, assists with hospital and homebound visitation, meets with those who need spiritual direction or counseling support, and participates in several committees. She is the leader of the worship team for Saturday Night Alive, our contemporary worship service that meets the first Saturday of every month.

Pastor Kris (or “PK”) graduated from Northampton High School. (Yes, the public library there has my yearbook in it with all my high school pictures!). She attended Susquehanna University for 2 years as a music major and then completed her college education at Penn State University with a BS in Elementary Education. (Yes, the sky is blue and white because God is a Penn State fan!). After teaching for a few years, she went to seminary at Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, NY, where she graduated with a Masters in Divinity. She was ordained in Western New York in 1996. She served 2 churches prior to coming here: Epiphany UCC, Buffalo, NY as a musical theatre director, and Eggertsville UCC, Amherst, NY as an interim pastor.

Pastor Kris lives with her husband, John, and their daughter, Hannah, and their beagle, Buddy. When she’s not at church, you can find her spending time with her family, gardening, walking, swimming, reading, or traveling. But her favorite past time is following the “Zits” comic strip and bugging teenagers to think about God.
